Research has confirmed that there is a definite correlation between emotional stress and the development of disease, including terminal and life threatening illness. From this we can conclude that a positive outlook, lowered anxiety, improved mood and a sense of control will increase survival times of those afflicted with a cancer diagnosis. There is a huge array of evidence available to support that negative moods and stress have a detrimental effect on the immune system, and the mind affects the beginning and the outcome of cancer.
The use of emotional support and support groups has been shown to increase survival times by up to 50%. Support groups encourage improving communication, sharing of mutual fears, and sharing knowledge with others that understand, in a safe supportive environment. At the centre we believe it is important to treat the whole person, and harness the power of the mind to influence health and allow healing to take place.
The centre offers 6 week courses for a duration of two hours per week. Our groups are different to mainstream practices. We believe in educating you as much as possible, about the effects of stress on the body and the mind/body (PNI) connection, nutrition and how you can help yourself. We have many strategies that have been tried and tested, that will be used to your advantage. This is a life changing course and is suitable for anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis, past or present or for those suffering chronic and/or debilitating illness, and their carers. During this time we cover a large array of topics including meditation, relaxation exercises, focus, and visualisation techniques and pain management.
Numbers are strictly limited and places will need to be paid for and booked in advance. Course cost is $150.00 which includes all materials. Groups are strictly Women only or Men only. There are no mixed groups.
